This is a very simple waffle recipe that comes out good for me every time. It's a standby for when we want warm breakfasts. Of course, don't forget real maple syrup or a favorite fruit topping!
You will need the following:
2 cups flour (2 white or 1 white and 1 wheat)
1 tbsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
2 cups milk
1 egg
2 tbsp melted butter
Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Slowly add the milk to the mixture, mixing together by hand or with an electric hand mixer. Add the egg and melted butter - make sure the mixture is thoroughly combined and homogeneous with few lumps.
Pour the mixture into your waffle iron, just barely covering the bottom griddle evenly. Close and cook each round for about 7 minutes (adjust based on your iron). Remove and enjoy! This recipe yields approximately eight 4" square waffles.
