I love my cast iron pans and don't know what I would do without them. The small 8-inch was a hand-me-down from my grandmother, given to me when I went away to college nearly forty years ago. It is so versatile. With it, I can make everything from scrambled eggs, crepes suzette, and cornbread. The other is a 12-inch skillet I bought for myself after I got married. I've used it for everything else from pancakes to roasting chickens.
The hard thing for me now is lifting the big skillet in and out of the oven. It requires two hands, whereas I used to handle it easily (ha!) with one.
