Cookies (two variations, both chocolate dipped)

I spent last spring baking cookies for faculty every Thursday (I'm a high school librarian, and used cookies as a lure to get people to come talk to me outside of their usual needs.) But this fall and winter have had medical foo, and so I did not bake cookies again until today. (The sister of one of my homeroom students nudged me to.)

Based on this chocolate dipped lavender cookie recipe but with some variations.

This variant will make about 20-30 chocolate dipped lavender cookies and about 20-30 chocolate dipped orange cookies. If you want to just make one of these, double the relevant ingredients (lavender and vanilla, or orange rind and orange extract, depending) but I was feeling adventurous.
