OK, we're coming up to summer and smoothie season, right? (Right? *glares at the snow falling outside*)
So, here's my favourite smoothie recipe.
1/2 C milk
1 frozen banana
6-7 frozen strawberries
3-4 ice cubes
2-3 scoops chocolate ice cream
1 handful pecans
Put in blender and blend. Then enjoy. :) Often I sprinkle some chopped pecans on top, too.
Note that the way I do it, the texture of this smoothie is more like a really thick milkshake or a Dairy Queen blizzard. But if you want it to be less thick and more like a drink, just increase the amount of milk and/or reduce the amount of ice (you could even skip the ice entirely).
This takes less than 5 minutes to put together, but I admit there's a bit of pre-prep involved in freezing the fruit. The strawberries you can buy frozen if you don't want to cut them up and freeze them yourself, but they don't really sell frozen bananas. It's not much effort to peel a few bananas and throw them in a Zip-loc container and freeze them, though. :)

on 2011-04-15 03:51 am (UTC)(It did occur to me as I was making said smoothie that I should've mentioned I make heavy use of my blender plunger for this. If your blender doesn't have a plunger, you should probably add more milk / less ice so it's less thick and easier to blend!)
