Hey
omnomnomers! My name is Kat, and I'll be your mod on your flight today. Please make sure your tray tables are in their full upright position and loosen your lapbelt in preparation for take off.
In all seriousness, hi. I'm Kat, I like food, and I like cooking even more. I'm still kind of like OMG. There are like... 40-some-odd people watching this community and 25 (
25!) people with posting access! That's like... crazy. Holy moly.
...I had a point with all this, I swear. I'm a full-time college student and finals are approaching with alarming swiftness. This means that I'm going to be really busy offline, which translates to not having a whole lot of time to tag and stuff on here. That said, here are a few quick things to remember:
1- Be not an asshole. Please don't make me break out my (very very very dusty and somewhat rusted) banhammer. I haven't had to use it in a while. Please don't start flame wars over the best chocolate chip cookie recipe (mostly because mine will trump yours every single time), and we'll be ok.
2- Please clean up after yourself. By this, I mean please tag things appropriately (we'll get to that in a minute), try to keep your formatting reasonable (more on this in a bit too) and keep things safe for work, children and houseplants. This is a community about food porn, but please don't take that too literally!
2.1- Please please please don't post any adverts for other communities here, unless you ask a mod first. Same goes for websites. I'd probably be perfectly happy to have an advert for another food-related community, but less likely to be happy about a HP_ficslash community. Unless it's about the use of food as a character device in the books. Then... maybe.
3- Tags! As of *right now,* please tag things however you see fit. If that involves listing every ingredient, that's ok. If you just want to slap a "vegan, gluten-free" label on there, that's ok too. The two things I ask:
Please tag with the type of meal (main dish, appetizer, snack, dessert) and the approximate prep time, rounded to the nearest 15th minute (15 minutes, 26 hours). Past those two things, I'd encourage you to list gluten-free, vegetarian/vegan, nut-free, type of meat and temperature served (cold, hot, warm). Those aren't required. I'm certainly not going to delete anyone's post, but taking these quick steps now will make my job a LOT easier. I'm not going to delete any posts (unless they're horribly off-topic), but I may be convinced to put repeat offenders on moderated status so that I can tag their entries before they go up. Please don't make me do that; it's a lot more work for me.
4- Formatting is pretty simple: Put the title of your dish in the subject line, put a quick description of your dish *above* the cut, and the rest of your dish under the cut. Tag appropriately. If you ganked the recipe from somewhere online, post a link. If you ganked it from a cookbook, a link to the Amazon page or the author's website would be appreciated. If you made it up, tell us so we can congratulate you appropriately!
5- Fifth and final: If you're interested in helping out with moderation 'round here, drop me a PM or e-mail me at zarhooie @ zarhooie.com with OMNOMNOM Mod in the subject line. You can also catch me on #dw, port 6667 at irc.dreamwidth.org as MissKat. I try to be easy to find.
Um... I think that's all. I'm pretty flexible on the tags thing, so if you've got a better system, let me know!
Happy fooding, y'all.
-Kat
[ETA: Because I'm a US-centric lady, I didn't realize that "entree" meant something else in upside down countries. Must be all the blood rushing to their heads or something... anyway, please use main dish instead of entree. Thanks!]
