Does anyone have a cure for fudge that was cooked too long? When it set it got too dry and hard. I've never had it do that before. Usually, due to the humidity here, I get the opposite problem, in that the fudge never sets up firmly. For the curious, I used the Fantasy Fudge recipe off the label on Kraft Marshmallow Cream and used a candy thermometer. Any suggestions?

Cure?

Absolutely! Send it to me. That's exactly how my mother swears fudge should be.

Umm... put it in a humidor? Cautious application of moisture might soften it some...

Melt it, with additional liquid, and use it for fudge sauce.

Chop it up and put it on ice cream?

Well, it probably won't work as well with fudge, but when my cookies come out wrong and end up being too hard/too done, I put them in a large baggy with a damp paper towel over night.
Maybe wrapping the fudge in damp paper towels would help it some.

That sounds useful for when the problem is caused by lack of moisture, but the other possible problem with hard fudge is sugar that has set into one of its harder possible crystal structures, instead of the lower-temperature one it takes in nice fudgey goodness.

Hehe! It's my humidor suggestion, the DIY version. I like it.

Sure works for cookies and stale cupcakes.
